They could use a little manual labor.
Students acting up in school this week are spending field day with their lovely art teacher cleaning the art room and then picking weeds in the courtyard. Once we are done with those, I told the teachers they could leave to-do lists in their rooms because we can visit those rooms afterwards to clean as well.

A student crossed off the name of another student from a project to try and claim it as her own. Really?! Are you kidding me???? This is infuriating! I am just happy I caught it before I really hurt another students grade. Her parents are getting a call from me in the morning. I just went on a 5 hour kayaking trip. I must say it is really rewarding, but very exhausting. I’m determined to get into shape this summer.

Chernobyl was a serious incident that happened 26 years ago. People got deathly ill and there are still some out there suffering from its effects. It would be like someone making a movie about 9/11 26 years from now and saying that aliens were the reason it happened and they ate all of the people of NYC. It is disgusting.

In other news...
“I am excited to share with you that you are one of the five candidates that I have chosen to move forward to the next round of interviews” Email from from a Principal of an AMAZING 4 star school system. I have a 3 in five chance. 5 finalist and 3 positions to fill. I like my odds.
In bad news, the past 3 days I have had a fever of 100 or more. I’m going to the doctor today.

Today while looking over the self portrait...
I noticed that one of my boys drew a tiny body on this head that had a nice rack and a proportionally large penis. I showed this to my principal and his only response was to make a face and ask “So, who is the little artist.” Yupp, this is my life.

Interview went fantastic.
“I was very impressed by our meeting today. I am sure you will be called for our second round.” -Principal at amazing middle school.
Apparently there were 86 applicants. He narrowed those down to 13 candidates for first round interviews based on resumes.
Second round interviews are being narrowed down to 4 candidates.

I have an interview on Friday.
Got a call today after school. I’m trying to not get my hopes up, but yes, I am excited. I would be at ONE school with my own classroom! I am keeping my fingers crossed.
I'm exhausted.
I just do not know how I can handle this amount of stress until June 5th.
But in good news: I have a 4 day week! I am taking Friday off because Saturday is my birthday.
Bad news: I have to deal with Mariachi music on my birthday. (The cons of being born on May 5th)

Yesterday was one of my best friend's weddings.
While standing behind the maid of honor, watching the face of her now husband start to tear up, I couldn’t help but let out tears of joy. I am so beyond happy for her. For some reason, this wedding has just made me feel like a real adult.
This week so far...
I have had multiple teachers come up to me (and my principal) telling me how I am doing a wonderful job and how they are impressed with what is going on in my room. It is nice to have a supportive staff. (Even if one teacher does not quite agree with them.)
I have been very stressed, depressed and feeling completely overwhelmed. It was very nice to hear these things this week.

Job opening...
Pros of job opening:
25 minutes from home (as oppose to 1 hour 15 minutes)
1 school with my own classroom (as oppose to the 2 schools I travel between and the 2 classrooms I share with the music teacher)
Less students (I now have somewhere between 700-800 kids. I don’t really know for sure how much, considering the drop and add rate.)
